"Bright Lights" is a documentary on the family life of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

6 Jan – "Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds" is set to be released this weekend.

The documentary focuses on the relationship between the late actresses, who passed away recently just one day apart. It is described as "an intimate portrait of Hollywood royalty in all its eccentricity".

It includes reels from vintage family films, bringing the iconic old-world Hollywood to life. It highlights the closeness of the mother-daughter pair, as they are shown displaying their tight bond as they joked with each other and sang show tunes together.

Despite their early distant relationship, the two eventually become the closest of friends, even ending up living in the same Beverly Hills compound and spending much of their time together. Fans of the talented actresses, be warned, the heart-warming tale will warrant a tear or two to be shed while watching.

Directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens, the critically-acclaimed documentary premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and has been screened at various other prestigious film festivals, including the Telluride Film Festival and the New York Film Festival.

"Bright Lights" will debut same time as the U.S. at 9am on Sunday, 8 January on the HBO channel.

A same day primetime encore will also air at 9pm.
