God Of War

Qi Jiguang was a famous Chinese military general of the Ming dynasty, who led his forces to defend the eastern coast of China from raids by the Japanese pirates. In the late Ming period, the villagers and soldiers of Yiwu had low morale and were living in misery due to the corruption within the local government and repeated invasions at the Chinese coast. Together with Yu Dayou, General Qi stepped in to recruit three thousand local villagers to have them disciplined via drilling and training. With advanced weapons and fine tactical deployment, the first ever "special forces", also known as the famous "Qi Army", was born.

The Good, the Bad and the Sea Battle:

• Having been released almost the same time as "Pirates of the Caribbean 5", the movie can be easily categorised as the other "pirate movie" as it also has, well, pirates.

• But of course, in terms of its story, it is completely different and the quality of CGI is not even comparable to the Disney film.

• Nevertheless, the movie has its own selling points usually in the form of its gripping battle sequences, expertly choreographed action scenes and an exciting battle of wits.

• The movie also has an engaging storytelling. Both Sammo Hung and Vincent Zhao give off very convincing performances.
