The Good, the Bad and the Background Heroines:

• An inspiring and dazzling true story which properly honours the three African-American female mathematicians for their contributions on the Mercury program in the early 1960s.

• The movie delivers a positive message about education and the value of hard work, and it also does well in demonstrating the institutional racism faced by the three ladies during that era.

• Out of the three formidable actresses, the one who stands out the most is probably Grammy-winning musician Janelle Monae who showcases a wealth of talent as the youngest and most opinionated of the three main women.

Trivia:

• This marks the second time that Taraji P. Henson and Mahershala Ali played love interests. The first was in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008).
