The Good, the Bad and the Effects of War:

• A beautiful and compelling portrait of real life that portrays the realities of war during Japan's harshest time.

• Despite the catastrophic tide of war, the film remains surprisingly heart-warming throughout the end, showing the struggle and determination of an innocent a young woman who proves that hope will always remain supreme.

• Styled in a similar fashion to many of Studio Ghibli's best works, this film is not only visually beautiful, but its animation style plays a big part in its story.

• This overwhelmingly beautiful historical tale deserves to be watched by everyone, to remind people of the horror of war, and how justice isn't always so clear.

Trivia:

• Based on the manga of the same name, the movie was previously adapted into a live-action television special in 2011.
