11 Dec – Upcoming Thai rom-com "Hormones", styled like 2003 Brit fave "Love Actually", features prominent Japanese adult video idol and nude model Sora Aoi. Directed by Songyos Sukmakanan, filmmaker company GTH Studio kept her role under wraps without revealing any of Aoi's movie photos or information. Despite having a press conference back in February in Thailand, no formal news on Aoi's role was exposed in press releases, pre production notes and posters. Presumably, the producers wanted to avoid unnecessary publicity or criticism due to her background in adult films. However, Aoi's fans easily identified her through film previews and trailers; and news spread rapidly through blogs and websites. According to Thaicinema.org, one of the earliest Thai portals to confirm the matter, it received a surge in traffic when other sites linked the news back to the site.
The teen comedy became a hit in Thailand when released earlier in March this year, raking in nearly 40 million baht (US$ 1.2 million) in its first weekend, overtaking U.S. remake of Thai horror flick "Shutter", according to Variety. Previously having only acted in porno and Japanese TV dramas, Aoi's inability to speak Thai is apparently no problem for the production, as she plays a Japanese tourist in the movie, who runs into a local guy who sees her uncanny resemblance to a famous porn star. "Hormones" will rage into cinemas tomorrow!
