Adibah Noor on "Nasi Lemak 2.0"

28 Oct – Malaysian singer and actress, Adibah Noor is one of those surprised with the success of the movie "Nasi Lemak 2.0" in collecting RM 7 million, thus breaking the box office records as the first local Mandarin movie to do so.

Adibah Noor was interviewed recently during the celebration ceremony of the movie's success, and she stated that "Nasi Lemak 2.0"'s RM 7 million gross is an inspiring achievement indeed.

"The movie was not listed in any must-show list, and neither did it manage to convince cinema distributors about the movie's saleability initially, which led to the movie being screened only in small cinemas with limited screen times. Based on these problems we faced, to be able to collect RM 7 million is an inspiring achievement and one that we are proud of," she enthused.

When asked whether the controversy started by the movie's director, Namewee, factored towards the movie's achievement, Adibah Noor answered, "Yes. I feel that what others have been saying is indeed what Namewee has done in the past, but for those who commented on this movie, I feel that they should not be criticising it. This movie really is the best.

"There is no content in it that is intended to hurt anyone's feelings. If people still insist on firing the movie, it is solely because of their personal feelings towards him, not the movie," the actress explained.

She added, "I believe that if people watch this movie they would not find anything wrong with it. Like I said, people are criticising it because of Namewee's past mistakes, for which he has repeatedly apologised for and deeply regretted."

The singer who is best known for her song, "Terlalu Istimewa" described Namewee as a very respectful person, as well as funny and kind, but perhaps a little too temperamental.
