Kristen Stewart does not let scandal stop her from landing a role in "Lie Down In Darkness". |
6 Aug – Despite the recent revelation of her shocking affair with "Snow White And The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders and the tragic end to her relationship with "The Twilight Saga" co-star Robert Pattison, Kristen Stewart is one to move on with life, quickly netting the lead role in the film adaptation of "Lie Down In Darkness", which is based on William Styron's critically acclaimed novel, according to NYDailyNews.com.
The 22-year-old has landed the role of Peyton Loftis, the tragic beauty of the story. Directed by Scott Cooper, who is best known for the 2009 drama film "Crazy Heart", "Lie Down In Darkness" features a Dickensian and Dostoyevsky kind of drama revolving around a dysfunctional Southern family. It is told in flashbacks from the point of view of other characters about Peyton Loftis, the young and emotionally vulnerable daughter of Milton, who holds an incestuous lust for his daughter while his wife, Helen, loathes Peyton, characterising her as a whore.

Art imitating life? Kristen Stewart's next role is a tragic beauty. |
It was reported that the movie has been in development for years at Open Media by producer Jeff Sharp. Although they have found their lead actress, the other cast remains to be revealed, and there is still no news on when production of the film will begin.
Stewart is currently waiting for the release of her two other films, "On The Road", which is based on Jack Kerouac's novel, that premiered in Cannes back in May but does not have a set release date in the U.S., and the highly-anticipated "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2".
Meanwhile, Stewart has been casted in the thriller titled "Cali", directed by Nick Cassavetes, which will begin shooting at the end of summer. Stewart plays one half of a pair of San Fernando Valley lovebirds who decide to sell a fake snuff film for quick cash. Years later, Stewart's character is compelled to make a return to help out her little sister, but she must now find a way to explain her 'rise' from death to not only her closest family members but to the angry former business partners she left behind.
