20 Nov – It looks like Tom Cruise will be taking a break of sorts from the action genre, having confirmed that he will be starring in Warner Bros. upcoming comedy "El Presidente", but the "Oblivion" actor is adamant that former co-star Jack Nicholson should be casted in another lead role. The film, which sounds like "White House Down" with a dash of "Knight And Day", revolves around an overly committed Secret Service agent who is assigned to protect a former president, who just happens to be the worst. When a threat is made on the ex-president's life, the two are forced to go on the run together and figure out how to take down the culprit. Cruise is set to star as the Secret Service agent while the actor wants Nicholson to play the sleazy former president and even told the latter that he will not do the project without him. In addition to the potential casting of Nicholson, Cruise's "Edge Of Tomorrow" director, Doug Liman, has signed on to direct. Cruise and Liman was said to have visited Nicholson to give him the script revised by Paul Attanasio, which the 76-year-old actor has agreed to read.
Cruise has been trying to get Nicholson to join the project since three years ago. The last film that Cruise and Nicholson previously worked together was "A Few Good Men" in 1992.
