26 Jun – Congratulations to the mastermind behind the "Star Wars" trilogy! George Lucas is now a husband for the second time after marrying his long-time girlfriend, Mellody Hobson, last Saturday afternoon at Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, California. Lucas's son Jett served as his best man, while Lucas's daughters Amanda and Katie served as the bridesmaids. Former New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley, a long-time friend of Hobson's, gave away the bride. "The George Lucas and Mellody Hobson wedding was a joy to behold! The service was beautiful and nothing short of profound. Congrats to Mr & Mrs Lucas," said Ron Howard, director and family friend in a tweet.
Samuel L. Jackson, who played Mace Windu in three "Star Wars" prequel films, was also invited, and he tweeted, "Let's give a galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride Mellody on their Wedding Day! Congrats!" Lucas was engaged to Hobson, the chair of DreamWorks Animation and head of the Chicago-based investment management firm Ariel Investments and chairman of Ariel Mutual Funds, in January. Hobson is also a director of The Estee Lauder Companies, Groupon and Starbucks Corp. This is Hobson's first marriage but Lucas's second.
