30 Dec – "Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb" has edged out "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" from the number one spot on Malaysia and Singapore's weekend box office charts for 25 to 28 December, but the latter movie maintains its number one title on the U.S. chart. The third instalment in the "Hobbit" trilogy series collected USD40.9 million in the U.S. last weekend, making a total gross of USD168 million to date. Two new movies settle for second and third places again this week. "Into The Woods" places ahead of "Unbroken", collecting USD31 million and USD30.6 million, respectively in the U.S.
In Malaysia, "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" climbs up to first place while "The Hobbit" slips down to second. Bollywood film, "P.K." starring Aamir Khan makes a surprising leap from its previous thirteenth place to land in third on this week's chart. Similarly in Singapore, "The Hobbit" makes way for "Night at the Museum", taking second place while the latter moves up to the top spot. "Exodus: Gods and Kings" goes down another rung to number three. Also opening in Malaysia last weekend are the movies; "Meaghamann", "Terbaik Dari Langit", "Cerita Hantu Malaysia", "Wayang Boy", "Brotherhood Of Blades", "Kayal", "Vellaikaara Durai" and "Santa Claus". Other new movies that opened in Singapore last weekend are; "Meaghamann", "Kappal", "Love On the Cloud", The Pact 2", "Saint Laurent", "Kayal" and "Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb"; the latter which was shown in cinemas as a sneak preview a week before its actual release date on Christmas Day.
