Sacha Baron Cohen is back as the titular Kazakh buffoon in a surprise sequel, "Borat 2".

10 Sep – Nearly 14 years since Borat cracked up the world with his over-the-top learnings of America, the fictional Kazakh reporter makes a surprise return in the new sequel "Borat 2".

Sacha Baron Cohen reprises the titular role, though this time he is no longer just a small-time journalist like he was in the 2006 comedic hit "Borat", according to Collider.

Plot details remain vague but reportedly Borat, who is more widely recognised now, has to go "undercover" when interviewing people. "Cohen playing Borat playing Cohen" was initially used to describe the movie but that has since been refuted.

The sequel was secretly filmed in Los Angeles during the pandemic, which now explains various sightings of Cohen dressed as Borat in the area in the past few months.

Rumours of a new Borat project started circulating when he started making unexpected appearances in public since earlier this year, but nothing was confirmed until Collider reported on the sequel, stating that it has been completed as well as "screened for a select few industry types."

There's no release date confirmed for "Borat 2" so far, though to is expected to open in America this November before the US presidential election.
