5 Jul – After previously announcing its end of the year release, "Downton Abbey" recently revealed that the second movie will be delayed several months.

News of "Downton Abbey 2" first came out in April, after Universal Pictures International announced that the film will be released near Christmas time.

"We're thrilled to announce that Julian Fellowes and the entire Downton cast are back for #DowntonAbbey2, with Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West joining! See the film in theaters this Christmas," the studio tweeted.

The Downton Abbey's ladies and gentlemen will return

However, it has now been revealed that the movie sequel will open instead on 18 March 2022, with Universal releasing it internationally on the same date.

Stars of the original ITV series like Michelle Dockery and Hugh Bonneville are set to return, with the addition of Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.

The screenplay is written by creator Julian Fellows, with Simon Curtis directing the pic.
