14 Feb - Harry Potter may have found a new Professor Dumbledore, as it was reported that beloved Emmy winner John Lithgow is now in final talks to portray the eccentric and benevolent Principal of Hogwarts.

The veteran star, known to many for his work in television, with shows like "3rd Rock from the Sun", "Dexter", "The Crown" and also the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon", may join the likes of the late Richard Harris and Michael Gambon, who played the character in the previous Harry Potter series of films.

While Lithgow himself is an American, the actor is no stranger to playing British characters, having played Winston Churchill in "The Crown", which enabled him to win the latest of his six Emmy accolades.

HBO declined to comment, telling the media in a statement, "We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumour and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalise deals."

The Harry Potter series will be filmed at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden where the movies were shot. It is scheduled for late 2026 or early 2027 release.
