2 Sep – Cinema Online was lucky to catch up with the cast of "Money No Enough 2" during the press conference of the movie held recently. The movie - which was done 10 years after its predecessor "Money No Enough", is touted as the better movie, with computer-generated images and other use of special effects. Among those attending were director Jack Neo, actor Mark Lee, and Malaysia's very own TV drama veteran Lai Ming.
Mark Lee, tell us briefly about your role and what do you make of it.
My role is simply to spend lavishly in order to maintain my luxurious wannabe life. The moment I received my script from the director, I was immediately reminded of my friend who exactly matches the role I had to play. So, all I had to do was to observe my friend's behaviour and also how he treats his wife. The character I play interprets "loving the wife" in a very different way. The character thinks that women should not be allowed to speak their mind. My character also feels that it is perfectly fine for him to sleep around. However, when he does get into trouble, he blames it all on his mother.

Jack Neo, can you tell us what are the main elements that distinguish "Money No Enough 2" from "Money No Enough"?
For "Money No Enough 2", we focus on the usage of computer-generated images (CGI), which improves the quality of the movie. The plot for "Money No Enough" is more straightforward while the plot for "Money No Enough 2" requires more analytical workings of the mind. In this second movie, we also applied a multitude of elements with most of them were focusing on the stunts.
Jack Neo, there are some critics saying that this movie is relevant for Singaporeans only. What do you think?
I totally disagree. This movie is applicable to everyone as we are all facing the same problems as portrayed in the movie. For example, nowadays the elderly are being neglected, even by their own children. Our living expenses also seem to be getting higher and higher. Don't you all agree? We have spectators in Hong Kong and Taiwan facing similar problems. They truly support the message that is conveyed through the movie.

Lai Ming, what do you think about your role? Do you feel empathy as well?
Mothers are like fine collectibles - as the years go by, they increase in value. I treasure what I have now. Yes, I do feel empathy because motherhood is all about loving, sharing, sacrificing and struggling. I love my family and I will treasure them always.
"Money No enough 2" opens at cinemas nationwide on 28th August 2008.
