5 Sep – Malaysian Film Festival 2009 Best Director for "Papadom" Afdlin Shauki is in the midst of shooting a new fantasy adventure he describes as "Lord Of The Rings on a tight budget." Speaking on the 18th day of shooting at a warehouse studio in Taman Batu Caves, he said: "One day two brothers balik kampong, and decided to use an old road instead of the highway because their father used to take them when they were younger. Something happens there and they get lost. Soon they're in another world filled with strange people and things. There are some supernatural elements. I've heard of stories like this (getting lost and being transported into another world) and I put a spin on it." Cinema Online had an exclusive look at several nearly completed scenes on the director's computer.
The most elaborate and impressive scene involves a jungle melee with plenty of strange creatures fighting with men on horseback and medieval-like armour. Hans Isaac is seen tied up and tortured. Another scene depicts Que Haidar being attacked by a ghostly apparition in a 70s-feel office, while yet another scene involves a high-stake poker game between Hans Isaac and Namron, with Liyana Jasmay as the gangster's moll.
