15 May – Previously, MGM reported that actress Julianne Moore was in negotiations to join the 2013 reboot of Stephen King's classic horror novel, and at the time of this article being written, Moore's involvement in the horror film has been confirmed. According to Total Film, Moore has been signed up to play the role of Carrie's mother, Margaret White, which was previously played by "Twin Peaks" star Piper Laurie. Her addition to the cast list makes the film one to anticipate, following the announcement that multiple award-winning teen star Chloë Grace Moretz was to play the titular character. The film will be under the direction of Kimberly Pierce, who is best known for her work on the critically acclaimed "Boys Don't Cry". Similar to her 1999 independent romantic drama, "Carrie" tells the story of a socially awkward teenage girl named Carrie, who struggles with her budding telekinesis powers and troubles with bullies in school, only to have matters exacerbated by the presence of her domineering, fundamentally religious mother. MGM has also announced the casting of actress Gabrielle Wilde ("The Three Musketeers") in the role of Sue Snell, one of the girls teased Carrie but eventually developed a sense of guilt and tries to become her friend. Hailed as a reboot rather than a remake, Pierce will be using Stephen King's original novel for her version rather than remaking Brian De Palma's 1976 original. "Carrie" is currently slated to be released in U.S. on 15 March 2013. Release dates for Malaysia and Singapore have yet to be confirmed.
