Disney remakes "Something Wicked This Way Comes"

A new adaptation of "Something Wicked This Way Comes" for a new generation.

16 Mar – Hollywood seems to be stuck for ideas, because Disney has just announced that they will be remaking their own film adaptation of "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

According to ComingSoon.net, Seth Grahame-Smith, who authored the best-selling novels "Pride And Prejudice And Zombies" and "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter"; the latter which has been adapted to film, will make his directorial debut through the film, although he will also write the first draft.

"Something Wicked This Way Comes" is based on Ray Bradbury's 1962 novel of the same name, and tells the story of two 14-year-old boys, Jim Nightshade and William Halloway, who have a harrowing experience with a nightmarish traveling carnival that comes to their Midwestern town one October, led by the mysterious Mr. Dark.

Grahame-Smith, whose novel "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter" has been adapted to film, is set to direct a film based on a novel.

"I have been so crazy about this book and it was such a formative title in my life that I actually wrote a piece on NPR about why it is so important for young males to read.

"It is a classic coming of age, father-son story about the transition from childhood to adulthood and how kids can't wait to be adults and adults romanticize their childhoods. I'm not remaking the movie; I want the haunted atmosphere that makes the book so chilling, and I want to reinstate some of the classic scenes from the book that were missing from the '83 film," Grahame-Smith said on Collider.

As another screenwriter is set to work on the film adaptation of "Something Wicked This Way Comes", Grahame-Smith will finish his draft of the Beetlejuice sequel and a follow-up novel to his "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter".
