24 Dec - Robbie Williams knows what you're thinking as you first saw the poster to his musical biopic, "Better Man".

The singer, who is depicted as a CGI chimpanzee in the biopic that is told through actor Jonno Davies, has this to say when asked why the choice of that animal to represent him.


"What's more cheeky than a cheeky monkey?" he said. "I've been a cheeky monkey all my life. There's no more cheekier monkey than the coke-snorting, sex-addict monkey that we find in the movie."

He added that people seem to care for animals more than humans and that his primate avatar is a special trick that desensitise and sensitise people at the same time.

"There's a removal as well. It's very much a human story but if you're watching it and someone's playing Robbie Williams, you're thinking: Does he look like him? Does he act like him? Does he talk like him?" he said.

In a previous interview, director Michael Gracey said that he was inspired by how Williams once said that he felt like a monkey being dragged to perform.

"He was just up the back performing like a monkey. And he said it enough times that I was like, 'Oh, that's how he sees himself. He literally sees himself as a performing monkey.' And I thought, 'That would be amazing; I would love to see that film.' That's where the idea came from," he said.
