Suriya's historical drama "Kanguva" gives way to Superstar Rajinikanth's "Vettaiyan"
3 Sep - Suriya recently admitted that his new movie, "Kanguva" has postponed its release date to give way to Rajinikanth's new film, "Vettaiyan".

The actor, who spoke to the media at the audio launch of his brother Karthi's "Meiyazhagan" in Coimbatore, shared that the two movies were supposed to be released on 10 October, before the studio decided to withdraw "Kanguva" from the slot as a show of respect to the Tamil superstar.

"We should give way to the film out of respect. He [Rajinikanth] is senior to me. He came to act when I was born. He has been an identity of Tamil cinema for over 50 years. I think it's best if Superstar's film comes out first. I believe you will be with me [on this]," he said.

At the same time, the actor expressed hope that audiences will support the movie once it comes out.

"For over two and a half years, more than 1000 people have worked hard day and night for 'Kanguva' just to present a special film in Tamil cinema. From Siva to the entire cast and crew, they worked so hard in testing climatic conditions for two and a half years. I have a strong belief that hard work will not go away. I'm sure you [audience] will give that love and respect. When it comes, it will receive everything," he said.

The upcoming historical drama sees Suriya playing the lead with Bobby Deol making his Tamil debut as the antagonist.

"Vettaiyan" to be released on 10 October
