8 Apr - It nearly turned into a tragedy, after fans of Ajith Kumar's plan to create the world's biggest cutout for the actor ended with it collapsing on the ground.

Enthusiastic fans in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu recently decided to attempt such a feat by assembling an iron structure that they then climbed, albeit without safety gear, to install the over 250 feet high cutout of the actor outside the PSS Multiplex in the city.

However, as a video that was recorded at the scene showed, the structure collapsed soon after, with fans running away to save their lives. Sources at the scene said that everybody managed to escape unhurt.

The incident happened just days before the release of Ajith's new movie, "Good Bad Ugly".

Ajith has not made any statement regarding the incident. However, the actor is known for always reminding fans to not do anything that can endanger them in the name of fandom.

"I'm grateful for the love that you've given me. But, please look after your life. I'll be a happy man when I get to know that my fans are also doing very well in their lives. And when they are nice and kind to my peers, my co-stars, and they have nice things and words to say," he said in a recent interview.

"Good Bad Ugly" is set to be released on 10 April.
