4 Apr – While the first live-action movie has yet to be released in cinemas, Universal seems confident enough to greenlit a sequel to "How to Train Your Dragon". The news was confirmed by director Dean DeBlois at CinemaCon held in Las Vegas, saying that the sequel already has a release date of 11 June 2027. Meanwhile, the first live-action film is set for release on 13 June this year.
The film, which has DeBlois (who helmed the 2010s animated features) directing and penning the script, stars Mason Thames as Hiccup and Nico Parker as Astrid. It also has Gerard Butler reprising his animated role as Stoick the Vast, Hiccup's father and chieftain of Berk. The original animated feature was loosely based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Cressida Cowell.
