26 Feb - John Lithgow recently confirmed that he is to play Professor Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming HBO's "Harry Potter" series and that he is excited about it. The actor, most known on this side of the world for "3rd Rock from the Sun" and "Dexter", said that the offer came as a surprise for him in a recent interview with Screen Rant. "I just got the phone call up at the Sundance Film Festival for yet another film, and it was not an easy decision because it's going to define me for the last chapter of my life. I'm afraid. But I'm very excited," he enthused.
"Some wonderful people are turning their attention back to Harry Potter. That's why it's been such a hard decision. I'll be about 87 years old at the wrap party, but I've said yes." The actor is currently 79 years old.
The series, which will be filmed at the Warner Bros Studios Leavesden (the same location the movies were shot), is scheduled for either a late 2026 or early 2027 release.
