25 Dec – Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese has taken up producing and directing duties to make a Bill Clinton documentary for HBO with full cooperation from the former US President. In a released statement, Scorsese stated that Clinton is a towering figure who remains a major voice in world issues, and continue to shape the political dialogue both in the US and around the world. "Through intimate conversations, I hope to provide greater insight into this transcendent figure," he added.
The documentary will explore Clinton's perspectives on history, politics, culture and the world. The 42nd US President had also expressed his willingness to work closely with Scorsese, citing how pleased he is that the legendary director and HBO have agreed to do this film. "I look forward to sharing my perspective on my years as president and my work in the years since, with HBO's audience." Scorsese had won an Oscar for "The Departed", which stars big Hollywood names such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon, in 2006 after being nominated six times previously. He is also known for his directorial work for "Taxi Driver" and "Goodfellas".
