Shawn Levy heads to "The City That Sailed"


With director Shawn Levy at the helm, "That City That Sailed" may turn out to be a comedy.

16 Nov – Hollywood's Fresh Prince needs to re-evaluate his choices after having starred in the disastrous M. Night Shyamalan film "After Earth" but it remains to be seen if director Shawn Levy is that person as Will Smith attempts to wipe the slate clean by starring as another father in the whimsical fantasy film titled "The City That Sailed" with Levy to direct.

The script, which is penned by Audrey Wells ("The Game Plan"), follows a New York magician in the midst of divorce and his young daughter moving to London with his wife. When his daughter discovers magic candles that can make her wishes comes true, she wishes that her family are not so far from each other, which lead ends up having the city Manhattan detach and start sailing across the Atlantic Ocean with both father and daughter trapped on it.


Will Smith's "The City That Sailed" is back on course.

The film has been in development hell for a few years now with Will Smith attached to star with director Francis Lawrence to direct. Further, the script was originally to be written by Andrew Niccol ("The Host").

Levy recently wrapped up filming for "This Is Where I Leave You" for Warner Bros. while Smith has been busy shooting the con man drama "Focus" and producing "Annie".
