10 Feb - David Lynch's cause of death has recently been revealed to be cardiac arrest.

The filmmaker, whose death was announced by his family in mid-January, had the COD reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease listed as an underlying cause.

In addition, dehydration was also listed as a significant cause contributing to his passing.

It was back on 16 January that Lynch's family announced his death, writing, "There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us. But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.'"

Lynch was evacuated from his Los Angeles home amid the wildfires last month. Last year, he revealed in an interview that he had been diagnosed with emphysema in 2020 after a lifetime of smoking and had become housebound due to health risks.

This, he said, would likely prevent him from directing new projects.

However, following his death, Netflix's co-CO Ted Sarandos revealed that Lynch was actually in the process of creating a new limited series for the streamer prior.
