18 Feb - After causing much commotion with the filing of lawsuit against Sean Combs (aka Diddy) and Shawn Carter (aka Jay-Z) for sexual assault, it was reported that a lawyer for the accuser has moved to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice.

"With prejudice" meant that the case is now dismissed permanently and can no longer be brought to court.

In response to the dismissal, the "99 Problems" rapper released a statement through his company, Roc Nation, saying that it is a victory on his part.

"The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed," he wrote. "This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims."

Jay-Z, who is married to Beyonce, continued, "The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed. The courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally."

The rapper had vehemently denied the allegations when it was filed back in October, saying that he had been sent "blackmail" in an attempt to force a settlement.

On the other hand, Diddy is still facing three dozen civil suits despite having this particular one dismissed.

A woman filed the lawsuit against Jay-Z and Diddy back in October, claiming that both men assaulted her in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards house party. However, in a subsequent interview, the woman in question admitted that not all the facts are clear and that she may have made a mistake in identifying her attackers.
