8 Sep – In the United States, "The Final Destination" clung to the top spot with an estimated US$15.4 million over the four day weekend, while "Inglourious Basterds" marched ahead of "All About Steve" for second place, according to online tracker Box Office Mojo. However in Singapore, the movie took an unfortunate slip down to second place due to Disney's debut of four furry secret agents in "G-Force", slated for Malaysian release on 17 September 2009. The fourth "Final Destination" instalment successfully overtook the two week chart topper "Up" and R.I.Ps at the No.1 spot in the Malaysia box office charts. According to GSC Mid Valley Megamall cinema manager Mr Lee Kong Yew, the film's 3-D version had received a very encouraging response from movie patrons over the weekend, with a majority of its showtimes almost sold out. On another note, Rob Zombie's horror sequel "Halloween 2" which was scheduled for an 11 September release has been banned last week by the Malaysian censors, according to the film's local distributor Tayangan Unggul. The movie opened in the United States last week under the R rating with "strong brutal bloody violence throughout, terror, disturbing graphic images, language, and some crude sexual content and nudity." Singapore will see this film slashing into cinemas on 22 October 2009.
