19 Feb – Relationships with high-profile stars are bound to meet a sour end considering the wealth they own, and American heartthrob Chris Pine is the latest victim, with his former agency suing him for millions not long after he left them, according to Daily Chilli. This was because the Los Angeles native broke off his nine-year commitment with agency SDB Partners last November through a "Dear John" email, despite the agency's history as one that guided and made him the star that he is today. "Pine did not even have the courtesy of picking up the telephone to tell us that he was ending his relationship with us," said a spokesperson of SDB Partners. Under SDB Partners, 32-year–old Pine managed to attain guest roles on AXN television series like "E.R" and "CSI: Miami", as well as leading roles in films like Garry Marshall's "The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement" in 2004, "Star Trek" in 2009, and McG's "This Means War" this year, alongside Tom Hardy and the beautiful Reese Witherspoon. So it is understandable that his former agents are not taking this break-up sitting down and have sued the actor for millions in commissions. The lawsuit stated that "Through this lawsuit, SDB seeks to not only recover its commissions on millions of dollars that Pine has already earned, but also the millions of dollars that Pine will continue to earn as a result of SDB's prior hard work and dedication to Pine's career," and added that a 10% agreed commission for "Star Trek" and 24 other projects has yet to be handed over by the Hollywood A-lister. Reports stated that the Berkeley University bachelor degree holder has earned a sum of USD3 million (RM9.1 million) for "Unstoppable" and a whooping USD5 million (RM15.2 million) for his newest role as FDR Foster in "This Means War". When asked about his decision, Pine described it as "agonizing" and that he recognized the effort and time that the agency had invested into building his career, although he left because he was frustrated and wanted more than what the agency could give.
