"X-Men" spinoff "The New Mutants" will be adapted for the big screen.

14 May – After undoubtedly making a name for himself in the movie industry with last year's "The Fault in Our Stars", director Josh Boone now has yet another project to add to his plate.

The 36-year-old is set to direct a standalone "X-Men" spinoff, according to Deadline, called "The New Mutants".

Boone will be penning the script along with Knate Gwaltney. Still in its early stages, there are no details out yet on the cast and release date for the movie. It is, however, known that it will feature a new group of mutant characters who are born with special powers and the series is already part of the "X-Men" Comics universe.

John Boone's biggest success to date, "The Fault in Our Stars".

The movie will not be hitting the big screen soon as Boone has several other projects lined up before he can get to it. The now in-demand director is attached to helm silver screen adaptations of Stephen King novels "Lisey's Story" and "The Stand", the latter which will be a four feature-length movie adaptation to stay true to the novel's extensive content.v Next in line will be an adaptation of Anne Rice's second and third novels in the "Vampire Chronicles" series. Boone is also still working on his own project, "The Pretenders", starring Dianna Agron, Imogen Poots, Thomas Dekker, David Schwimmer.

Boone's Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort-starrer "The Fault in Our Stars" last year raked in USD307.2 million worldwide against its USD12 million budget.
