9 May – Singapore is set to welcome the crème de la crème of the South Indian movie industry as this year's South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) has been confirmed to be held right here in Singapore. "Baahubali" actor Rana Daggubati was one of the stars who were present at the press conference held recently to announce the good news. Along with him were Shruti Haasan and Anirudh Ravichander. It could be a done deal for all three – since they were picked as the representatives to make the announcement – to return for the grand event to be held at the end of June. Previously, neighboring country Malaysia had the honor of holding the prestigious event in 2014. In 2015, the star-studded event was held in Dubai. 2016 will be the year for Singapore to experience the glamorous night with the biggest stars and performances. SIIMA is an annual event that recognises the artistic and technical talents of the South Indian movie industries, which includes the four major film industries – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The 5th South Indian International Movie Awards will be held at Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore on 30 June and 1 July 2016. (Photo source: SIIMA's Facebook)
