24 Oct – The 8th edition of the Luang Prabang Film Festival (LPFF) is arriving soon, and we Singaporeans now have another reason to be excited for it. Our very own dark comedy thriller film "Unlucky Plaza" has been selected as the nation's representative at the annual event. To be screened along with 31 other feature films from over 10 Southeast Asian countries, the Ken Kwek-helmed movie centres on Filipino immigrant Onassis Hernandez, who kidnaps several Singaporeans for ransom following a financial scam. The movie, which made its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, also won Best Actor for its lead Jeffrey Epy Quizon at the 2015 International Film Festival Manhattan. More than just a film festival, LPFF also provides an avenue for rising filmmakers to gain new ideas and support to be their own media makers. This year's Luang Prabang Film Festival will take place in Laos from 8 till 13 December 2017.
