8 May – Angelina Jolie has found her next project, in the form of a biopic on Native American athlete, Jim Thorpe. The Hollywood actress, director and producer will be producing the movie "Bright Path: The Jim Thorpe Story", according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm honored to be working on this project. I have had the privilege of spending time with Bill Thorpe, and will be listening to and guided by the Tribes and the Thorpe family in the making of this film," said Jolie.
"Bright Path: The Jim Thorpe Story" follows the multitalented athlete who won two Olympic gold medals for the U.S. in 1912, even though a period of cultural genocide against Native Americans caused his citizenship to go unrecognised during the time. He later played in the Major League Baseball, became a professional footballer and founded the organisation that would today be known as The National Football League (NFL). Prior to the upcoming movie, Thorpe's story was first brought to the big screen in 1951 in the Burt Lancaster-starrer, "Jim Thorpe: All American". Aside from producing the Jim Thorpe biopic, Jolie will be also be producing and starring next in two Disney titles, "Maleficent 2" and "The One and Only Ivan".
