23 Dec – "No Man of God", the new movie starring Elijah Wood, has been accused of being involved in a COVID-19 relief fund scandal.

According to a report by The Salt Lake Tribune, former Olympic speedskater Allison Baver, who also financed the said movie, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on nine counts of fraud for supposedly lying to obtain USD 10 million from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).



Although the programme, established by the US government in 2020 to help businesses, self-employed workers and non-profit organisations to stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic, Baver's company reportedly transferred USD 150,000 into the production of the said movie. It is unclear whether or not Wood or the other producers of the movie had any knowledge of the source of the funds.

The 2021 movie stars Wood as Bill Hagmaier, an FBI agent tasked with interviewing the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy during his final years on the death row. The movie is based on the real-life transcripts from the interviews Hagmaier conducted from 1984 to 1989. It also co-stars Luke Kirby as Bundy.
