12 May – Glenn Close is not at all amused by people highlighting the fact that she has been nominated and lost the Oscars eight times. The actress, who recently failed to bring home the Best Supporting Actress accolade at the 93rd Academy Awards (the victory went to South Korean actress Youn Yuh-Jung), stated that she couldn't understand why anybody nominated would be considered a loser.
It is noted that Sarah Paulson recently expressed her frustration with news about Close's eight Oscar losses, saying that such an article should no longer exist. "She's brilliant and continues to have an extraordinary and enviable career. Nighty night to this click bait convo to nowheresville," the actress tweeted. Close has received four Oscar nominations for Lead Actress throughout her career for her work in "Fatal Attraction", "Dangerous Liaisons", "Albert Nobbs" and "The Wife." Aside from the recent "Hillbilly Elegy", the actress was also nominated Best Supporting Actress for her role in "The World According to Garp", "The Big Chill", and "The Natural."
