12 Jun – Despite previous rumours that Elijah Wood may be playing the villain in "The Toxic Avenger" reboot, it is now reported that the bad guy will be played by villain connoisseur, Kevin Bacon.

The actor was revealed to have been cast in the upcoming Peter Dinklage-starrer, and will play "a slick (and likely over the top) villain" - as described by The Hollywood Reporter.

Bacon is no stranger to playing bad guys, having done so in many movies including "Hollow Man", "Super", and another superhero movie, "X-Men" First Class" - where he played supervillain Sebastian Shaw.

Bacon previously played supervillain Sebastian Shaw in "X-Men: First Class"

Prior to Bacon, it was reported that Elijah Wood joined the said project alongside Dinklage and young actor Jacob Tremblay - the latter reportedly will play son of Dinklage's titular character.

The upcoming movie, which is a reboot of a 1984 superhero black comedy of the same name, will be helmed by Macon Blair ("I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore").

It will begin filming in Bulgaria in June.

Elijah Wood was previously rumoured to play the villain in the said reboot
