6 Jul - "Avatar" creator James Cameron recently surprised many by saying that there is a possibility for him not to direct the fourth or fifth instalments of the franchise. The director, who has been filming two "Avatar" sequels back-to-back, including the upcoming "Avatar: The Way of Water", told Empire that the franchise is already all-consuming.
But that doesn't mean that the franchise is less significant to him, with the director saying that he gets more excited about it as he goes along. "Movie four is a corker. It's a [expletive]. I actually hope I get to make it. But it depends on market forces. Three is in the can so it's coming out regardless. I really hope that we get to make four and five because it's one big story, ultimately," he added. This would not be the first time if Cameron is to entrust his projects to another director. Previously, he tapped Robert Rodriguez to helm his 2019 film, "Alita: Battle Angel".
