3 Mar - Mikey Madison recently proved that she is the new starlet not to be played with as she defeated other worthy contenders to win Best Actress at the 97th Academy Awards.

The actress bested the likes of "Wicked" star Cynthia Erivo, Fernanda Torres ("I'm Still Here") and Demi Moore ("The Substance") to clutch a win for herself at the age of 25 for her titular performance in "Anora".

It is noted that Madison learned to speak Russian and replicate the thick Brighton Beach accent her character uses in the film to play a young Brooklyn sex worker, and spent about five months training to pole dance.


However, Madison is not the youngest actress to ever win the said accolade. That title goes to Marlee Marlin, who won at the age of 21 for "Children of a Lesser God" in 1986.

Prior to the Oscars, Madison has been winning multiple Best Actress accolades throughout the awards circuit including at the British Academy Film Awards and Independent Spirit Award.
