5 Mar - It looks like "Ne Zha 2" is quickly becoming a movie to be reckoned with, as it has now surpassed USD 2 billion at the global box office.

The Chinese animated blockbuster, which was released on Chinese New Year, has reached that peak on 3 March, 33 days into its release, surpassing Disney's "Inside Out 2" to become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time.


The film has also broken many records, from being the first film to gross USD 1 billion in a single market (China), and the first Chinese and non-Hollywood film to make it to the top 10 of the highest grossing movies of all time.

The film is now number 7 in the said list after surpassing "Spider-Man: No Way Home", and is inching closer to "Avengers: Infinity War", the latter which made USD 2.048 billion in 2018.

"This success has not only boosted the confidence of creators but also showcased the resilience and immense growth potential of the Chinese market," said Lai Li, a Maoyan analyst.
