9 Feb - Indonesia action star Iko Uwais' adventure in Hollywood continues. The actor is most recently planning a "secret project" with "Kong: Skull Island" director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts. He shared a photo of him and the director meeting up in Beverly Hills, California, on his Instagram, captioned "Lunch with my good friend." This has prompted fans to comment if this means he would appear in Vogt-Roberts' upcoming movie "Metal Gear Solid", as Gray Fox, specifically.
Such comments have been around since the project was announced in 2017. It was that same year that tweet exchanges between the actor and the director revealed that they were supposed to work together in "Kong: Skull Island" (but Uwais' character was axed) and the commercial for the video game "Destiny 2". "Didn't work out on Kong. Didnt work out on Destiny. Next one..." the director posted, to which one commenter replied, "Metal gear solid it is ..... iko can be greyfox". Since there's no other upcoming projects listed for Vogt-Roberts aside from "Metal Gear Solid", which he is currently working on, it is possible that this could be their "secret project". The duo probably doesn't want to officially announce it yet since Uwais could still be busy with his other projects at the moment. This year he will be seen on the big screen in "Stuber" and "Triple Threat", as well as on the small screen in Netflix's upcoming "Wu Assassins". (Photo source: Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Twitter)
