6th Bangkok ASEAN film fest still taking place in Thailand this weekend

1 Sep – While most of the film festivals this year have had to either be cancelled or moved online, the 6th Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival (BAFF) is still all set to hold its physical edition this weekend.

Happening from 3 to 6 September at SF World Cinema, CentralWorld Shopping Center, admissions to the Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival 2020 will be free of charge.

It was posted today on BAFF's Facebook that registration and ticket booking are now open at www.baff.go.th/reservation-ticket-baff2020.



This year's programme includes ASEAN Classic (a screening of the 4K digital restoration of 1972 Thai classic "The Honeymoon"), Showcase: ASEAN Plus, and ASEAN Short Film competition.

Showcase: ASEAN Plus is meant to promote movies made in Southeast Asia as well as China, Japan and South Korea. The five films selected for this are "The Science of Fictions" by Yosep Anggi Noen (Indonesia, Malaysia, France), "Balloon" by Pema Tseden (China), "The Long Walk" by Mattie Do (Laos), "Rom" by Tran Thanh Huy (Vietnam), and "A Girl Missing" by Koji Fukada (Japan, France).

Meanwhile, 15 finalists will be vying for the three cash prizes in the short film competition.

The prizes are divided into: Best ASEAN Short Film (USD2000 cash prize), Jury Prize (USD1000 cash prize), and Special Mention (USD500 cash prize).

Among the competing films are the Malaysian-Taiwanese production "Lanny", Cambodian film "A Fallen Fruit" as well as Singapore's "Andrew", "Here is Not There" and "jù rén".

Wearing mask is required while attending the film festival and temperature checks will also be enforced. Those with a temperature of 37.5 C or higher will be denied entry.
