"Candyman", "Halloween Kills", "The Forever Purge" get new dates

"Candyman" has been moved closer to Halloween.

9 Jul – Universal Pictures has a few horror titles slotted for this year and the next, but the uncertainty of cinemas' reopening in the US has forced the movies to be delayed yet again.

"Candyman", "The Forever Purge", "Halloween Kills" and "Halloween Ends" are Universal's four movies that have recently been given new release dates, as per Forbes' report.

Marking its second delay, "Candyman", which was originally slated for release in US cinemas on 12 June before being pushed to 25 September, has now been moved to 16 October 2020.

It takes up the slot previously occupied by "Halloween Kills", which has now been postponed a whole year to 15 October 2021. This also delays the final sequel "Halloween Ends", pushing it off the 2021 schedule to 14 October 2022.

John Carpenter, whose music will be heard in "Halloween Kills", posted a statement on social media regarding the movie's postponement, "If we released it in October of this year as planned, we have to face the reality that the film would be consumed in a compromised theatrical experience. After weighing the options, we have chosen to push the film's theatrical release by one year."

Prior to the "Halloween" instalments, horror movie "The Forever Purge" will hit the big screen on 9 July 2021. Previously, the fifth and possibly final instalment of "The Purge" franchise was originally set for release on 10 July 2020 before being postponed indefinitely back in May.
