When multi-hyphenate stripper turned writer Diablo Cody won an Oscar not too long ago for her "Juno" script, that placed her in a good position for greater success. However, "Jennifer's Body" seems to have put a halt to proceedings in that direction.

Two friends with different personalities start us off in this movie. Anita Lesnicky a.k.a. Needy (Amanda Seyfried) is a bookworm while Jennifer (Megan Fox) is the school hottie. An untoward incident at a nightclub changes everything when Jennifer falls prey to a band's devil worshipping business and becomes possessed. She goes off on a killing spree with glee and we get to see some sizzling scenes of stylish murder!

You have to say that this Karyn Kusama movie gives rise to plenty of emotions for the audience. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's scary. Although the comedy element is present, this doesn't interfere with just how scared you can get when the horror begins, especially when Jennifer turns into a sexy maneater who loves to kill with style. However, if you've ever watched that rather disappointing 2005 movie "Aeon Flux" (same director), you'd agree that a sexy star does not a good movie make. Despite the movie utilising her star appeal exceptionally well (check out the trailers!) and Megan Fox herself playing up her image splendidly (there's a nude scene in the forest!) she falls desperately short of a commanding female lead. Are we asking too much from this screen siren? Instead, it's her sidekick Amanda Seyfried who manages her character better.

However, no review will deter you from watching "Jennifer's Body" if you're a Megan Fox fan. To be fair, the special effects aren't half bad, especially those done to the victims. There's also a moral message about friendship being thrown in. With all that, perhaps you can bear the movie if you don't put too much hope into it.
