The Heat

In the new raucous comedy from Paul Feig (director of "Bridesmaids"), Sandra Bullock plays straight-laced FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn, a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence - and hyper-arrogance. Melissa McCarthy is Boston Police Officer Shannon Mullins, foul-mouthed with a very short fuse. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers must join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they find themselves fighting against a powerful crime syndicate, but even worse, against each other.

Are you a sucker for comedy movies with elements of crime in it? Then this will be the perfect movie for you! Director Paul Feig's latest comedy instalment is a 180-degree turn from his previous film "Bridesmaids" (2011).

The story centres on FBI special agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and Boston cop Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) as they team up to take down a ruthless drug lord. Both of them have personalities that are absolute polar opposites. Bullock's character is an uptight, law-abiding detective who is hated by her fellow FBI agents while McCarthy's character could not care less about what her peers thinks, the law, and has no sympathy whatsoever towards criminals.

This unlikely pairing obviously had conflicts in the beginning but as the movie progresses; you are able to see the bond between them. Another interesting aspect of the movie is how the two lead characters develop by showing a different side to their characters. The chemistry between the two actresses is delightful to watch and they also make an extremely awesome comedic pairing.

As cliche as it sounds, in every other police buddy related movies, there is always a scene where the pair lets the team down and abandons the task. The end to the movie will be what most people will expect because the good guys will always win over the bad guys.

Expect to be laugh a lot from the off-colour humour presented in the movie. The movie also has its fair share of heart-warming scenes. Watch this if you are a fan of Sandra Bullock and/or Melissa McCarthy.
