Watch this if you liked: “The Monkey King”

The Good, the Bad and the Monkey King:

• The last thing we need now is probably another movie about Monkey King, Sun Wukong, as the story has been retold so many times in many versions and different angles.

• While we do love the classical story, having the same one told over and over again, though on different platforms, can sometimes be a bit tiring.

• While Hollywood keeps coming up with plenty of unnecessary reboots and sequels, Chinese filmmakers seem to be running out of fresh ideas as well as they too are doing the same.

• From 2013 to 2017, we have already seen six different movies adapted from "Journey to the West" back-to-back - the story is starting to get a little bit old now.

• And since we are so familiar with story already, even this version too is pretty much predictable, and doesn't really stand out from the rest.

• Despite its strong attractive cast, visually pleasing sets, striking costumes and crazy action sequences, at the end of the day, people will still remember it as another Sun Wukong movie.
