Chhapaak

Starring Deepika Padukone as Malti, who had acid thrown in her face by a man in 2005 on a New Delhi street, the movie follows the young woman as she struggles to rebuild her life following the attack. It also highlights the on-ground consequences that women face after surviving an acid attack in India as well as what happens afterwards, when their faces have been irreparably burnt. The movie is based on the real life of Laxmi Agarwal, who was attacked with acid at age 15 after she rejected the advances of a 32-year-old man.
