24 Oct – Preliminary box office figures from the extended Deepavali holiday weekend (Oct 23-26) indicate that "High School Musical 3" is leading the collection at local cinemas, beating previous favourite "Bangkok Dangerous". This statistic is even more incredible given the fact that the popular musical opened on Friday, 24 October 2008 - a day later than other new releases like "Bangkok Dangerous" and "Tropic Thunder". It is at least certain to have eclipsed figures for last week's box office hotshot "Max Payne" due to the extended holiday weekend. However, the collections from seasonal Tamil movie heavyweights "Aegan" and "Seval" are unknown at the time of publishing, and may yet come into play.
