15 Jun – Fans and fellow stars alike were shocked to learn yesterday that Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput had taken his own life. It was reported by ANI that the 34-year-old actor was found dead at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on Sunday and Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Sharma has confirmed that it was suicide by hanging. However, police are still investigating as no suicide note has been recovered from the residence.
Netizens are speculating that the actor's final post on Instagram, which was an emotional dedication to his mother who passed away in 2002, might have hinted at his suicide. News of the actor's death came in just a few days after his former manager Disha Salia was found dead, according to NDTV.
Sushant Singh Rajput was last seen starring in the Netflix release, "Drive", opposite Jacqueline Fernandez. The actress conveyed her condolences on Instagram with a photo of them on set, captioned, "Sush... I'm so sorry... RIP." "Drive" producer, filmmaker Karan Johar, meanwhile posted on Instagram, "I blame myself for not being in touch with you for the past year. I have felt at times like you may have needed people to share your life with but somehow I never followed up on that feeling..." Hailing from Patna, Bihar, Sushant Singh Rajput started his acting career through the 2008 drama series, "Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil". He starred in several TV series before breaking into the film industry with 2013 buddy drama film "Kai Po Che!". His last movie appearance will be as the male lead in "Dil Bechara", a Hindi language adaptation of the popular John Green novel "The Fault in Our Stars", which will now be released posthumously after the pandemic previously delayed its May 2020 release.
