26 Jan – Star Wars alumnus John Boyega is set to collaborate with Robert De Niro in an upcoming thriller intended for Netflix.

The actor, who has had several film projects since bidding his farewell to his Star Wars character Finn through "The Rise of Skywalker" in 2019, reportedly will be playing a Formula One prodigy in "The Formula", who becomes a getaway driver to support his family.

This will also mark Boyega's return to Netflix after starring in the platform's 2014 original, "Imperial Dreams", while De Niro's last work for the streaming giant was the 2020 Martin Scorsese film, "The Irishman".

Boyega is most known for his role in JJ Abrams' Star Wars sequel trilogy

Boyega also shared the good news on social media, writing, "Been plotting this movie for awhile! We connected, collaborated and now we ready! More than excited to announce this project to you all! F1 superstar by day and getaway driver by night. Ready to bring [Gerard McMurray] vision to life!"

The new movie is currently in development, with Gerard McMurray ("The First Purge") serving as both writer and co-producer, the latter role he shares alongside De Niro.

Boyega's other upcoming projects include the adaptation of Sergio De La Pava's novel, "Naked Singularity" that is currently in post-production, and the sci-fi comedy, "They Cloned Tyrone". The latter is currently still in production.
