28 Nov – SingTel in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. Entertainment have now launched Hooq, a joint venture start-up, offering online streaming video service in Singapore according to Capacitymedia.com. The services will be offered to SingTel's prepaid, post-paid and broadband customers as a part of bundled service packages. Hooq has been available sometime for Singtel Philippines, Thailand, India and Indonesia and is associated as a rival to leading TV and movie subscription service, Netflix. According to Hooq CEO Peter Bithos, the service that offers more than 20,000 titles is available for S$8.98 (US $6.29) a month which is equivalent to the price of a movie ticket. SingTel's managing director of home and consumer, Goh Seow Eng, said that Hooq's vast selection of Hollywood hits together with local blockbusters will certainly please the users. "Hooq is a good complement to our pay TV product, as it allows us to offer an even wider breadth of content over multiple screens – mobile devices, computers and televisions," added Goh, as quoted on Capacitymedia.com. Hooq is currently available in five South East Asian countries, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines.
