2 May – It was revealed that Jeff Bridges is set to return for "Tron: Ares".

The actor, who has played video game character Kevin Flynn/CLU in the original 1982 movie, will be reprising his role again in the new movie, which has Jared Leto playing the lead.

Sharing the good news on the Film Comment podcast, he stated, "I'm heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the 'Tron' story. Jared Leto is the star of this third one. I'm really anxious to work with him; I've admired his work."

It is noted that Bridges previously played the character in previous iterations of the movie - the 2010's "Tron: Legacy" and the short film, "Tron: The Next Day" (2011).

According to Deadlines, "Tron: Ares" follows Leto's highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind's first encounter with A.I. beings.

Leto and Bridges are joined by Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson, with "Maleficent" director Joachim Rønning helming the project.

Filming has begun in January in Canada, with the movie scheduled for October 2025 release.
